El coquí: Puerto Rico dialect?

Haven't found this word in the diccionary. This is from TV series Destinos, episode 20th, where the action is held in Puerto Rico. There is a story about frog and princess and for the frog "el coquí" is used. (Not sure if I need to write í but I guess so, because there's a frog drawn on the i grin ) So is anybody familiar with that word or it is common only in that country?

If coqui is a small, nocturnal frog in P. Rico, could it have a dual meaning, is it commonly used metaphorically to mean something else.
