Que te bañas

Que te bañas

Earlier when leaving work, someone said Que te vaya bien, and someone else said que te bañas. I couldn't grasp what he was saying until he repeated it a bunch of times. It's this sort of thing that makes in hard to get Spanish for me, because I never hear these types of constructions in TV shows etc (which is where I get most of my Spanish).......... In retrospect I find it a hilarious retort to "Que te vaya bien". It means "take a shower".

I think you mean "constructions" ...but why "retort" ?? as opposed simply to "response" ?? - Janice, May 23, 2010
It's a retort. Response doesn't indicate the same level of meaning. Gracias. - jeezzle, May 23, 2010

que te bañas.

Good one! However, wouldn't this be said in the subjunctive mood (just as "que te vaya bien")?

I'd say "Que te bañes."

Marianne is correct about the conjugation. Jeezzle, this guy is just playing with you by telling you to take a bath, as if you really needed to do so. It's simply a cute phrase that colorfully and flowingly follows, "Que te vaya bien."

"que te vaya bien" means "be well", or "have a safe trip"
