A woman only good for 3 things: cleaning, cooking and...:p Do you agree?
I have just seen this very interesting "fact" stated by our big Q here, and I am being veery bad quoting him,
but....many men actually think this is as things should be. I still remember that shocking movement of "obedient wives"
Omg...If I lived in the States I would be one of them
jeje
Just in case somebody actually believes Quentin means what he s sayinng here, I am including this in the post (I already said this in a post, but maybe not everybody has seen it)
And please do remember, our big Q is just like my wonderful Alvite, always sarcastic and ironical
Well it is an established fact that women are only good for 3 things: cooking, cleaning and that other thing. Ask any guy. A biological truism. I am glad to see that you are raising your son with a proper attitude towards women. He should go to religious meetings with me where they promote Headship. Another interesting concept of women's role in the universe. - qfreed
And just in case somebody does not know what I really think, see this on my page, it has been there forever![]()
Para las mujeres:
La mujer debe adorar al hombre como a un dios. Cada mañana debe arrodillarse, nueve veces consecutivas, a los piés del marido y, con los brazos cruzados, perguntarle: Señor, que deseais que haga?
I don't know about the 9 times, seem too many to me...however, the rest, by all means!!

Crap! I must've gotten a defective woman then :(
Is there a medicine for women who don't do ANY of those things?
Behind every GREAT man there is a GREATER woman. I really and truly mean this. Heidita, I believe that wives should be obedient to their husbands BUT men need to be just as obedient to their wives. It's a biblical principle that we love each other (now I understand that not everybody believes the way I do and follows my belief system) and show each other the upmost respect, care, and compassion. Marriage is a unity of one, not a dictatorship like some MEN would like to believe, truly skewing the Word that I hold dear to my heart. I just had to throw my two cents in because it disgusts me when men think this!!! (I hope I didn't come off too strong, if I happen to have offended anybody sorry, PM me). ![]()
My dear friends, I am in love with a woman. I don't care,if she is good for this, that or the other thing. All I know is that I love her and with out her I am lost. By the way I am 63 years old - I have been around.
PS. Please feel free to make corrections. Thanks..
Sorry?. It is established that....?. Bah. They are only topics.
Each person is a particular case. Nowdays, women are more interested about other things. We have more objectives in life. We want to learn more things... Women in past are another thing. They had other limitations imposed by society.
I would have to disagree with that statement, Heidiita and gfreed
In my view a woman should truly be valued for who she is - as also a man - and not for what she can do. Yes she can be admired for her gifts but her value far exceeds her gifts. The real Value of a woman is in the companionship she brings - especially within marriage - the ability to see life from a different perspective and encourage the man to open up his vision of life. In a similar way I think that a man's value does not lie only in his ability to provide financially for his wife although he certainly should do his part in helping to bring the money in through working hard. In today's society, values have changed and are still being gradually transformed (for better or worse depending upon your individual perspective) so that couples are much more likely to come to their own reciprocal arrangements as to who is responsible for
1.Earning the money 2 Caring for the children 3. Sharing the household tasks
Many of these responsibilities are shared - though how well this is worked out in practice varies from home to home and can often be a source of contention
No longer today is it simply assumed to be a woman's job to iron, cook etc but there is much more room for negotiation within relationships to allow couples to make their own arrangements rather than follow the old stereotypical expectations .for men and women. Finally, this can be a Double edged sword (Mixed Blessing) for some who prefer the old way where they know what is expected of the man and woman but personally speaking I can see more advantages than disadvantages in freeing up people to share the roles and responsibilities and not expect the woman to become the slave.

It seems to me that women are good at a whole lot of things. They are teachers, physicians, lawyers, business leaders, authors, pilots, IT professionals, pastors, psychologists, social workers, police, governors, Prime Ministers, and Secretaries of State.
God took woman from man's side, to be his equal, not from his feet to be trampled on by him. And if you pay attention to the creation story, it begins with the simple, least complex of all creatures and becomes significantly greater, more complex, and more glorious as the story unfolds. The last thing created, the epitome of it all and the most glorious- was the woman.
I'm not saying women are greater than men. But I am saying they are man's equal- entirely different from men by design. Their strengths are different than the strengths of man and are sorely needed. they are the first to console, the first to nurture, the first to comfort, the first to show compassion and love.
Thank God for women. For far greater than cooking, cleaning, and that other thing.
"Kinder, Küche, Kirche" as said Kaiser Wilhelm II (well they say he said it). Was he missing something?
Believe it or not I talk to my wife and my women friends. I ask their advice and I take it hardly less often than they take mine. I have worked for and with women and I have agred with them, accepted their opinions and done what they asked me to do.
Can't we somehow, someday, put this old nonsense away and try to live together without this unnecessary cause of grief and hassle?
PLEASE
Nice, Heidita. I'm glad to see that you are getting painted with the same broad brush that I am.
Neither of us espouse these viewpoints. The comment was a satirical reply to a remark made by one member's son that "she return to the kitchen where she belongs".
Please, don't equate Headship with any of the other comments. To do so would be a disservice to a complex philosophy. It is not anything draconian like it is usually is defined. It has nothing to do with the the Near Eastern customs or how women are treated in that culture. Headship is a philosophy whose purpose is to remove conflicts in marriage; it has nothing to do with making women subservient.
That being said, it is one of the reasons that I never joined that religious group. I believe that it has practical shortcomings, not in its philosophy, but in its application. In theory it honors women. The Bible extols the value of woman in many verses. It certainly does not treat them as chattlel as some claim.
Now I know how politician feel when presented with comments taken out of context.
Of course, I am a misogynist and Heidita is a misandrist (Just read her thread on Men putting their foot in their mouth.) ...and Lazarus1907 was a racist. I'm beginning to understand his reasons for leaving this site.
Let me first say that I'm an expert at cleaning, cooking, and other things
Jejeje
However, whatever I do, I do it because I want to, not because it's a wife's duty. Cooking and cleaning (and many other household tasks) are my contribution to a partnership I have with my husband. I also work outside the home part-time.
On the other hand, my husband works more hours than I do and harder than I do (and he makes more money), so that's his contribution to our partnership. He also does a lot of other things around the house that I can't (or won't ) do.
Good balance (along with respect and a sense of humor) = a happy marriage.
I agree with this if "that other thing" is everything
haha.
The opinions above have many correct aspects. In my opinion, a woman is good if every break in her life can only make her stronger, not fearful at all (it means each break may be considered a lesson). Moreover, she needs to appreciate the very important values with her husband's life and she should be an intelligent woman.
And I can say that I want to find a female governor, not a female cook.
4Annie,
That's what I love about this site!!! Everybody is different and I can't say you should receive "backlash" for that statement because it's what you believe. I mean, my beliefs here, the Apostle Paul speaks about being more equipped being single to carry out the gospel then others. This is not to say that people in relationships or with children should not live out their faith but all we married people know that with a spouse and children it is a little more taxing to "spread the gospel" because of a given day only having 24 hours.
I wish there were more opportunities in my own life like this one here to share a bit of my beliefs, now if I can get this into Spanish!!! Oh the sheer joy!!! ![]()
Nila45,
I agree that everybody has their particular case but if I am not mistaken the topic of conversation was do you agree or disagree with women being good for only three things? Society tends to impose multiple things on both sexes (agreed that women have had it a lot worse!!).
My wife has a B.S. degree (no, not a B#$% degree)
I thought I would throw that in there and she has been my anchor for the past 13 years. I think women have come a long way with societies stipulations on them for what is acceptable and what is "woman-type" careers. I commend you for knowing who you are and what you want in life. I know many men and women that can't say that!!! ![]()
Hey hombres qué pasaran?? what a load of rot, I can cook and clean as good if not better than any woman, and as for the other nameless thing ???.I think it is a lot of rubbish saying women are only good for three things I can think of a dozen or more things , maybe it is being said by men who are not putting enough into their relationships and are therefore missing out on some of the finer aspects of a woman to man relationship or any other kind.Todas las mujeres son buenas, pero algunas son menas buenas que las otras.

Sfrenchie,
I've always said, "If men had to have babies there wouldn't be any because we are babies when it comes to pain!"
As for women not needing men, I'm not sure I agree with that statement. I don't think women or men need anything. I think it's a matter of wanting something else. A relationship is a choice (and at times a hard choice)
and women and men can choose to get into one. Women, sfrenchie never needed men some simply wanted a man and vice versa.
