"When the interruption of pregnancy didn't succeed, they left the children to die in the forest, the ocean or at the refuse dump"

Would it be correct to write:

"Cuando no lograron una interrupción del embarazo, dejaron los bebés en el bosque, en el mar o les tiraron en el basurero para que murieran."

Is it correct to use the subjuntivo imperfecto in this sentence?

Appreciate any inputs :D

Yes, your use of the subjunctive of Morir is correct.

It sounds better to not use the subjunctive in here and just stay with the infinitive thought, but here is how you would translate the way you wanted.

Thank's for tips. But if I'm using the subjuntivo in the sentence, would it be correct to use it as I did?
