Ojalá que le baje la temperatura porque la fiebre puede ser peligrosa. Let's hope his temperature drops because a fever can be dangerous.

My favorite spanish word is "Ojalá" and we are studying internet grammar which includes bajar to mean download which is just one of the meanings. Since this sentence has both words and also peligrosa, which I hear all the time on the radio, I thought I would share.

A little more. "Bajar" has a more general meaning than "download".

Bajar--> to put something down. To decrease a level such as audio volume or room temperature. To remove, strip down. Some colloquial forms:

  • "bajarle la vieja a alguien" --> to steal somebody's girlfriend.
  • "Le bajé una feria a ..." --> I got some money from ...
  • "Bajar un mp3 de internet"--> To download an mp3 file from the internet.

Download / unload ==> "descargar"

The original post is right in the sense that "bajar" is commonly used to mean "download" in the internet jargon. However it is only so because of laziness, as saying bajar is a bit quicker and sounds less geeky than descargar.
