Receta (Prescription) is the word most used.

Do you need a med refill? ¿Necesita rellenar su receta?

Don't know if it's relevant in this case, but here we literally get a refill of the same prescription. A new prescription would be a 'script for a new/different medication. grin - Delores--Lin

This is an interesting comment. Now, what is this refill exactly about?

After all you are not getting the bottle filled with something...or are you?

If you have a medicine like tablets which come in a layer...you cannot physically fill that.

So a refill , I guess, refers to: getting a prescription of the same medicine. Or getting the same medicine with the same prescription, which incidentally would not be possible in Spain (except for private prescriptions, but you have to pay this, social security prescriptions are only for one lot, you pay only a percentage)

Hola, You get a new bottle, but the pharmacist counts the amount of pills you were prescribed and put them in. They make a sticky tag with all your info. It is really controlled. - LuisaGomezBartle, May 19, 2010

¿Necesita una receta nueva?

We do not use rellenar, as that would literally mean: refill.

First question is do prescription refills operate where you are. I was quite surprised to find it was like this when I moved to Texas as I'd never lived where a refill system was working apart from one doctor who ran his own system. After you've answered that, you need to find out, from someone local, how it works and what words to use.
