Why is a US pint a pitiful 16 ozs when an English pint is 20 ozs? Not to mention that in rural France they still refer to "une pinte" although what they get for it is a half litre.
... and a US gallon of water (as a result) weighs only 8 lbs instead of 10 lbs.
