In the first place, my searches are just not finding "fingering holes". All the references to flutes etc. use "finger holes". So changing my starting point to finger holes, what do I find? References in Spanish seem to prove that the holes in a flute (or whatever) are referred to simply as "agujeros".

Is this progress?

Opening or closing the holes in the body (tube) of the instrument changes the length of vibrating air inside the tube, thus defining the height of the sound. The holes are plugged in some cases directly with the fingertips, in other with keys.

But do flautists refer to them as "orificios"? - geofc, May 17, 2010

My Google search for "como hacer una flauta" turned up the phrases:

"los agujeros de digitación", y

"los orificios de digitación"
