Hay una expressión: 'Hay que estudiar para aprender' = You have to study (in order) to learn. This shows the order: process ---> result)

I would say that 'Estudiar' is the verb used to indicate one process by which we/people can learn. In contrast the verb 'aprender' usually indicates the end result of studying: that we learn new skills, understanding etc.. eg 'Has aprendido mucho de español recentamente = You have learnt alot of Spanish, recently.

However since it is possible to learn in life without recourse to formal study at a College or University you could use the verb 'aprender' to learn skills in life

Le gustaría aprender cómo conducir pero no tengo suficiente dinero.= I would like to learn how to drive but I don't have enough money
