Are there any important differences in Spanish spoken by Mallorcan's. I'm on holiday there soon, and would appreciate any tips from visitors or locals.

We have visited Mallorca many times, they speak Spanish and Mallorquin (similar to Catalan) and most people speak English as well. I usually find the people very friendly and happy to let me practise my Spanish. In fact it was after a holiday in Mallorca, that I decided to learn Spanish. They don't to "lisp" the C's and Z's . It is a lovely island I hope you have an enjoyable holiday. cool smile

I'm going to the quiet side, not the "young" side, so looking forward to it. - fontanero, May 14, 2010
We usually visit the North of the island- which is quiet - pintor, May 14, 2010
I'm off to Alcudia, north east I think. - fontanero, May 14, 2010

When I was there last I honestly had trouble finding Spanish speakers, lots of English and German. They also speak a dialect of Catalan so there's that too. But try hard - especially with waiters, hotel people, who are often from other parts of Spain.
