Practice it until it's second nature.
You're going to memorize a whole essay? I would write out an outline, memorize that, and then just write the essay during the test or whatever you're memorizing it for. To memorize the outline, I would look it over, highlight or underline important points, and try to write it up from memory a few times. It would be pretty difficult to memorize the exact wording of a full-length essay.
I´m confused by this notion of memorizing an essay for an oral exam.
An essay by nature is a written presentation - to be read.
Are you to be evaluated on your ability to spout out memorized material, or your ability to present a topic orally. If the latter is the case - and I hope it is because the former would be a complete waste of time - the best way I know to accomplish this task is to make sure you know your topic.
I sometimes record myself reading an essay aloud and play it back to myself ![]()
my technique in memorizing an essay is to read the whole thing then read the first sentence, then read the first and second sentence, then read the first second and third sentence and so on until youve read the whole thing. then try to say it out loud and see how far you get and how much you remember and go back and work on your weaker points.
