Can I embed a file in a forum post?
I was going to answer the question link text with a swf link to an mp3 of the practice for it that I did using this code:
<embed src="http://www.blogcastone.net/audio/player.swf?soundFile=http://sites.google.com/site/blank052site/jaja.mp3&playerid=10&bg=0xcddff3&leftbg=0x357dce&lefticon=0xF2F2F2&rightbg=0x357dce&rightbghover=0x4499ee&righticon=0xF2F2F2&righticonhover=0xffffff&text=0x357dce&slider=0x357dce&track=0xffffff&border=0x357dce&loader=0x8ec2F4&loop=no&autostart=no" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" height="40" width="290"></embed>
I can even see and hear it work right in the post preview, but just the code shows up when I click "answer this question". I was hoping to be able to make a nice clickable link to my file. What can I do otherwise? Suggestions? What happens that it works ok in the preview?

Hola estudiante,
The embed tag does not work in the forum (and probably for good reasons regarding security), or that is to say that a few months back I tried to get the embed tag to work, and after beating my head against the forum wall for a couple of days, I decided, more for the sake of my own sanity than anything else, that the embed tag would not work in the forum posts.
You might have a look the response Webdunce made in this thread in regards to a possible explanation as to why the embed code will not work here. When did they start allowing html in the threads again

I haven't even worked out how folk include pictures yet.
If you look up to the top of the screen, when you're forming a thread or a response, there are post editing buttons. The one you're looking for is a little box to the right of the quotation mark button....it looks like a Polaroid photo.
When you click it it should open up a very small window -- this is where you can put the url of the image. The image must be published somewhere to work...you need the url (web address).
Try it with this url.... http://www.geekalerts.com/u/duck-radio.jpg .... you should then see a picture of a rubber duckie.
I would like to be able to embed a formatted Word file or even an HTML file with links. Any chance?
Good luck with that. I yet have to understand how the editor of this post system works. I have many times tried to use HTML in my responses and the behavior is more than puzzling. I suspect many answers will be that it's Internet Explorer's fault.
