I am doing a project and I need to know how to say "to dye" (hair). How would I say this?

in mexico we say "pintar el pelo" teñirse is also correct but we don't use it.

I believe that you can also use "tintar el pelo (cabello)."

An indirect object pronoun is neccessary with either word.

Tintarse el pelo

or

Tiñirse el pelo

I have heard Poner el tinte used - I don´t know if this is totally correct or not though. Ponerse if it is yourself who is applying the colour to your own hair.
