Did you know?- dates (fechas)

I was looking at Lauren12's Challenge!!! Birth Dates post and I noticed that many people are capitalizing the months. So, thus, this post.

Dates in Spanish are written as such:

el (día) de (mes) de _(año) or dd/mm/yy or dd/mm/yyyy

Note: months of the year and days of the week are lower-cased

Example: January 2, 2003 can be written as:

02/01/03; 02/01/2003; or el 2 de enero de 2003

Months

enero

febrero

marzo

abril

mayo

junio

julio

agosto

septiembre

octubre

noviembre

diciembre ---Please note it is diciembre, not decembre

Days

domingo

lunes

martes

miércoles

jueves

viernes

sábado

Why don't we throw it all away and comply with the International Standard

yyyy/mm/dd/hh:ss

That way you can even do simple arithmetic on dates.
