How does "me uno" work in a sentence?

I can understand people joining together (se unen), but how does one person join with another? Using the preposition con?

Me uno al grupo. I join the group.

Se unió a la iglesia católica. He joined the Catholic Church.

Se unieron para ayudar a Haití. They came together to help Haiti.

Me reuní con mis amigos para pasarlo bien. I met up with my friends to have a good time.

You got this from the conjugation of "unirse," right?

How about:

"Todos los domingos me uno con mi familia para la cena."
