Yerba Mate
Hola a todos!! Since travelling to Argentina and Uruguay, their Yerba Mate drinking culture has made me grow fond of it!!! I bought some the other day and I actually really like the taste! Anyone else drink it??

Hey, Mike - I bet there are lots of "mate" fans here on the forum... I first tried it in the '60's when we had an exchange student from Argentine live with us for the school year. At the time I really didn't go for the taste (I was probably about 14), but it's grown on me over the years. Did you get the gourd and the straw and everything when you were there?
Although, I must confess, I'm still a fan of a good café...
I was more than a tad put off when we took a boat trip up at Tigre, upstream from Buenos Aires and the boaties simply dipped the pot in the yucky brown water, heated it up and added the yerba.
