The pit of "me"

The pit of "me"

Some believe, I am one of them, that somewhere within me there is a core or essence of my self, ego, id,Qi, or being. I happen to believe it resides, if that is a good word to use, not in my brain, my heart or the pit of my stomach but rather in a core part of me somewhere in the area of my diaphragm (maybe). I do not confuse it with any centre of gravity but I do in an imaginary sense place it in the central part of my body as it acts on all the parts of my body.

In English we have an expression "in the pit of me" which I suggest is different from the pit of my stomach. I think of "the pit of me" as the place where my essence is found.

Are there any members whose Spanish is strong enough to tell me if there is a Spanish equivalent for "In the pit of me"??

I would say: "En el fondo de mi ser".
