The Subjuntive - Expressing Future/Pending Actions

Pagaré las cuentas en cuanto reciba mi cheque.

This sentence requires the subjunctive "reciba" because the sentence describes a pending action. However, doesn't there need to be two subjects in a sentence in order to use the subjunctive? Thanks for your help in advance.

good question! In this case the adverbial conjunctive does not include a preposition (such as "antes de/después de/en caso de...etc), so you do not have the option of an infinitive. Therefore, your conjugated verb form must be in the subjunctive, since the prerequisites for subjunctive are in place.
