Please phrase your questions more explicitely. Only one word is not considered a sentence. - sfrenchie, May 4, 2010

Spanish is the language with the 2nd highest number of native speakers and the 3rd highest number of speakers (total) in the world. Over 350 (more likely 400 or 500) million people worldwide speak Spanish in over 25 countries. If you ever want to travel to or do business with Central/South America, the Caribbean, Spain, and a select group of African countries, as well as with the thousands of Spanish speakers living elsewhere in the world, or if you want to/need to speak to the 22 million Spanish speakers in the US, you should learn Spanish.

To vanquish the subjunctive, of course, and thus become the cleverest of them all!

Well, I knew it couldn't be "To be able to watch those dreadful telenovelas," so there was really only one option left. - MacFadden, May 4, 2010

I moved from NJ to TX. I feel if I'm going to live in Texas, I ought to learn the language.

Personally, I recently visited Lanzarote, and found the language interesting. Almost everyone there spoke good english, and I could only manage a few pleasantries. If I visit another Spanish speaking country, I may be able to understand a little more.

The question is, why do you want to speak Spanish?

Well if people didn´t speak Spanish, the Spaniards living in Spain wouldn´t have a lot to say to each other, would they. In fact they would lead a pretty dull existance.

Personally, I want to learn Spanish because I get really jealous when I hear people (especially friends) speak Spanish and not be able to understand them. I mean, they can be insulting me for all I know. And especially, when my friends laugh after saying something funny, I want to be in on the joke. Also, I want to watch Spanish serials and be able to understand why the woman slaps the man??? Not to mention, I intend to travel the world, so Spanish is a necessary language to learn. Next, I'll be learning Chinese, since I hear that it might become a common language around the world. Ahhh...to many languages to learn and not a big enough brain!!
