Don't forget to read the very informative footnote.
Ir joined to present participles implies the existence or actual execution of the action designated; joined with past participles it signifies to suffer their action; with the preposition a and infinitive mode, it implies disposition toward, as ir a misa, to go to mass; followed by con, it gives the noun an adverbial import, and accompanied by the preposition contra or fuera de, it signifies to persever, or act contray to., or who goes there?(Met). To treat or discuss, to look for.
"ir" is also the verb infinitive ending for 3rd conjugation verbs.

Hi Guy

Hello Guy I will answer your question this time but I would also suggest that you follow the link given above - by gfreed - for a more detailed answer/explanation.
Ir is the verb in spanish meaning = to go
Ir is an irregular verb and this is particularly noticeable in the present tense as you can see:
(Yo) Voy = I go
(tu) Vas = you go (familiar)
El /ella /Ud Va = He/she goes/you go (formal + sing)
(Nos) Vamos =we go
(Vos) Vais =you go - only used in Spain
(Ellos/ellas/uds) Van =they /you go (pl) M F/m
nos=nosotros vos=vosotros
The verb Ir like other irregular verbs eg decir, need to be learnt individually as they do not follow the rules for the formation of ar, er and ir verb endings.
