No se lo menciones a Lylinka. Don't mention it to Lylinka.

se is the indirect object (le = se when next to lo) - to him - refering to Lylinka - seems redundant and unecessary to English-speaker's ears but is very normal in Spanish.

lo is the direct object - it

No le menciones nada a Lylinka. Don't mention anything to Lylinka.

No menciones a Lylinka. Don't mention Lylinka.

Oh yea, replace LE with SE when next to LA or LO. Capitan. - jeezzle, May 3, 2010

Se is not there because of the verb, but because it is, as Alba has pointed out, the indirect object representation of Lylinka. Lo is the direct object representation of the thing being mentioned.

Actually, to Lylinka should really be considered a prepositional phrase, rather than an indirect object I suppose, but Se still represents Lylinka.

How important is the SE and why is it in there, the verb doesn't appear to be a SE verb. Gracias.
