Let's say I want to say someone or something is boring, would I interpret the word "aburrido"?

Yes, "Esta persona es aburrida" if they are a boring person. "Estoy aburrido/a" to say "I am bored".

Yes, this sounds right. I remember Paralee saying that the form of "ser" would indicate a characteristic, whereas "estar" would indicate the person's temporary emotion at that moment. - danrivera, May 1, 2010
Exactly. If you said "Soy aburrido/a", you would be saying "I am a boring person". - aceydoubleyou, May 1, 2010
...in reference to this particular word. - danrivera, May 1, 2010
My last comment was in reference to "aburrir". - danrivera, May 1, 2010

I believe it would be aburriendo. Perhaps the more advanced can confirm this.

Please disregard this entry.

No. You cannot make a gerund out of an adjective. Furthermore, "aburrido" does not need to be altered beyond gender/number agreement. - aceydoubleyou, May 1, 2010
It is possible to use the verb "aburrir" to say "this bores me", like the example with "trabajo" here: http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/aburrir - aceydoubleyou, May 1, 2010
