Why is it that Mexicans add "azo" to the end of words? What does this ending mean?

It's a superlative of sorts. "Jovenazo" for example suggests that a particular youth ("joven") has some outstanding qualities, such as good looks, intelligence, money - that distinguish him from the average.

Likewise, "un juegazo"; would mean a great game -say soccer, or baseball, for example. A real thrill to watch.
