different verbs for "miss"

It seems the verb "to miss" in English has different translations in Spanish:
I miss her. La echo de menos or La extraño.
You'll miss the train. Perderás el tren.
But what about the following context:
The novice golfer takes a swing at the ball, and misses it completely.
