2 Verb Question... Is a always necesary?

I´m sometimes confused when or if I should use the a inbetween a conjugated verb followed by an infinitive. I know that there are verbs that automatically are followed with the a in every situation like ir, venir, and conocer, and when there is a conjugated verb followed by a person or a pet like; Estoy hablando a mis hermanas o Conozco a España. My question is, is it necesary when there is no personal a or special verb involved to use an a as a link to the infinitive verb??? Ejemplo; Yo puedo hacer un globo (No hay nada a in esta frase)

**"Conozco a España" means "I know Spain.".... in a person type of way... I guess "Spain" could be someone's name, but if you are referring to the country, this doesn't really make much sense - MeEncantanCarasSonrisas, Apr 28, 2010

The 'a' is not used because there is a conjugated verb followed by an infinitive. It is used because it is customary after some verbs (you simply have to remember which ones).

No, the ''a'' is not always required. Yo pudeo hacer un globo is perfectly proper.
