You shouldn't give up on yourself? From Star Trek : Rendirse? Porque. You gave up on yourself why?

Check it out in the dictionary rendir When it's not pronomial it's for giving up something else, the gun, your deepest secret, your soul, for instance. But pronomial it means to surrender, to give (yourself) up, to give up (to quit trying).

No hay que rendirse There's no reason to surrender.

I see what you're saying by 'on yourself' but do we need that in English? It is just 'yield' or 'surrender' I think so something like 'You must not surrender (yield) but I'could be very wrong, where is Gekkosan? - margaretbl, May 4, 2010
