Did I do good? A question about subjunctive

So ever since the concept of the subjunctive clicked in my head about 3 weeks ago I've been looking for opportunities to use it. A friend of mine brought me and my buddy coffee in the park and I decided to thank her by e-mail because I really wanted to practice writing the subjunctive.

Anyways I wanted to say to her: Thanks for bringing us coffee so that we could refresh ourselves...(and then a bit about our long day).

Anyways I wrote this and I want to know if I did it right or not:

Gracias por traernos café para que pudiéramos refrescarnos.

For some reason I feel the sentence is wrong or forced-anyways I would appreciate your opinions.

P.S. I would appreciate it if anyone knows about when the subjunctive is used after expressions involving would check the 'unanswered' tab and refer to my question from two days ago.

Thank you all very much!

I agree that your use of subjunctive perfect! And Heidita and Carlos are going to abolutely murder me, but I would have worded the first part of your sentence slightly differently. Since you are thanking your friend for something she has done in the past and not at the moment, I would say, Gracias por habernos traído café para que pudiéramos refrescarnos. Thank you for having brought us coffee............

I think there is an accent on the i of traido jaja. :P Thanks for making this more complicated than it already is..haha, kidding, thanks for your input. - puravidacanuck, Apr 27, 2010
You're right, it needs an accent mark. This is not really complicated. It's simply the difference between "Thank you for bringing" and "Thank you for having brought." You can do it! - 005faa61, Apr 27, 2010
