Gracias!

Check out Spanish for the Busy Medical Professional. It's not free, but (imo) a great audio book for English speaking medical professionals to learn basic Spanish and medical terms at the same time.
Not books but there's a series of podcasts available through the iTunes site. If you go to the iTunes podcasts' homepage and type in "Medical Spanish AAC" that will get you there. I'm not a medical person but it's really good stuff. Organised by Dr Molly Martin (Austin, Texas.)
I think learning to translate in a hospital setting is a great goal. This is a tremendous need in many cities, especially in the U.S. Accurate communication is vitally important when someone's health is at stake. Confusion often happens even when everyone is speaking the same language. When there are parties involved who do not speak English, a difficult situation becomes that much more confusing.
I am in the process of trying to put together a medical reference article for this site. I am always interested in knowing what might be helpful for those who work with Spanish speaking patients on a regular basis. So if you have any further thoughts, let me know through a private message.
I'm glad you started this thread. I was not aware of the podcasts. I listened to one of the free ones on chest pain and it was excellent.
