how would i write this in spanish. i am having trouble with the first verb.

However, it was not until Moreno Villa told him a story about a rose, that García Lorca began to write what is today known as Doña Rosita la Soltera.

Sin embargo, no (era/fue/estuvo).....

Gracias!!

This is a phrase that's related to time, so you would use a form the verb "ser". That rules out "estuvo". This is a single event (he began to write, never mind the fact that the writing continued for a while) so you should use the preterit "fue".

Sin embargo, no fue hasta que Moreno Villa le contó una historia sobre una rosa, que García Lorca comenzó a escribir lo que hoy se conoce como "Doña Rosita la Soltera."
