Question about a phrase "Espérate a que me muera"

I was reading the poem "Ebanu Real" and I understood most of it, but I'm still in doubt about one repeated phrase. "Espérate a que me muera" I'd probably guess is a command to wait until I die. Am I correct and is "a que" just a poetic replacement for "hasta que"?

Hi again, well not a poetic replacement though.

Esperar a algo, it is always used with a, you can use it with hasta toowink
