Do you wish to work online or offline at your sister's house?
If offline, you need nothing except a charged battery in your laptop or an ac power adapter.
How do you go online at home with your laptop? Do you have wireless or wired home network? If you have a wireless network card on your laptop, then all you will need to go online is a sufficiently strong signal from a wireless network (ISP).
If you use a dial-up/broadband connection through your laptop's modem, then you will need a working telephone jack.
Of course, you won't have a printer/scanner/copier, possibly fax, or other peripheral hardware so you need to store your work in the most convenient manner that suits you. (e.g. If your sharing the data with others then post it online at a file sharing site, if you working with images, save them to a thumb drive if it can access your printer directly, etc.)
The variations are numerous. If you have a home network you may wish to remotely access your home computer network from your sister's, etc. to print documents, access files, etc.
Again, if you're going to be working offline, then you need nothing, but your laptop.
