Cafes or cafés?

Cafes or cafés?

Hi all,

In lesson 1.15, it shows that "Hay unos cafes de internet...", yet the flashcard gives "el café internet"

should there be an accent mark in the first case, or is there a rule emitting the accent mark when the plural form is used?

and also, is it "una parada de autobus" or "una parada de autobús"?

Thanks. smile

I think you're right.

I believe there should be an accent on the plural, cafés, in order to maintain the stress on the last syllable.

Definitely "autobús" with the accent.

Without an accent the stress would generally fall on the penultimate syllable (next to the last), e.g., papa (potato). Words ending in a consonant (not including n and s) are stressed on the last syllable, e.g., beber papel, verdad. The accent tells us to put the stress somewhere else, e.g., papá (father)
