Hi Selwich425 and Welcome to the SpanishDict forum,

on MSN the message pops up " XXX Acaba de Iniciar session "

"XXX just logged on"

"Acabar de + infinitive" is an expression that can be used to refer to a recent action.

start session (acabar de iniciar = have just started)

acabar =to finish (something). acabar de iniciar can be known as to finish starting (computer, internet) and have session now

Hola, Selwich:

I think I read and understand your question differently from Fidalgo. As I understand it, when you are using MSN in Spanish language mode, and, when someone other than you signs on to MSN there is a pop-up message that appears on the screen at that time which says, for example, "Maurice Acaba de Iniciar Session"

I would interpret that to mean that Maurice has just (acaba) started/initiated (initiaciar) a session on MSN.

Muchos saludos/Best regards,

Moe

Oops - Looks like I replied before Fidalgo finished his entry. His answer looks different than it was when I replied. - Moe, Apr 17, 2010
not very different, this is a particular case of session - Fidalgo, Apr 17, 2010
