¿Cual es la diferencia entre 'usar' y 'utilizar'?

Question

Quiero decir "I could still use it" (meaning my laptop/ordenador), pero no sé si es major decir "Todavía podría usarlo" o "Todavía podría utilizarlo."

I agree with Gekkosan (as usual). With these two words, you're lucky; it's mostly a matter of direct translation.

I want to utilize / use this new car part.....Quiero utilizar / usar esta nueva pieza del coche (Either word works).

I want to use you in my new film........Te quiero usar en mi nueva película. (Just the one word works). But Utilize your talent........Utilizar tu talento is OK
