Spanish equivalent for "blind side" or being "blind sided"

There is a common expression in English for being hit unexpectely (literally or figuratively) from a direction you weren't looking or couldn't see; "blind side" or being "blind sided." I just saw the Spanish language version of "The Blind Side" and the title was translated as "impossible dream."

Does anyone know of an equivalent idiom or expression for blind side or being blind sided: for being struck literally or figuratively by a person or thing coming from your blind side while looking the other way? I assume there is given that it is a common occurance in human experience but I am curious what it might be.

Creo que depende completamente del contexto, pero una de las opciones es la palabra:

desprevenido, da. 1. adj. Desapercibido, desproveído, falto de lo necesario. 2. adj. No preparado, no advertido para algo. Tu llegada nos pilló desprevenidos.

I can't think of any term that would specifically say this. The closest that I could think of was "sorprender" which, of course, is to surprise. I hope you get an answer from a native speaker that would be closer to the "visual picture" that you have painted, unless maybe it would be"emboscar" which is to ambush.
