Is this sentence translated correctly?

I am trying to say: In the movie, we are told El Cid is accused of treason because he let the Moors escape. My spanish translation: En la película, nos dicen que El Cid está acusado de traición porque él dejó los moros escape. I don't this is right, so thanks for all the help!

I would say it this way, and use past subjunctive of Escapar: "En la película, nos dicen que El Cid está acusado de traición porque él dejó que se escaparan los moros."

I believe you translated the whole sentence correctly except for the last word. It should be "escaparse".
