Translation for "be afraid"

Question

I forgot how to translate be afraid - because it is a command. I know the phrase is tener miedo, and I think the command form would be ten miedo.

Beyond the translation, I also wonder if it has the same significance in spanish as it does in English. Such as the English phrase, "be afraid, be very afraid"

Tener miedo means to be afraid. So I would say that the command would be Ten miedo. I am not a native speaker, but if someone said it to me, I think I might just be afraid.
