Native speakers: Please help me translate this sentence from Spanish!

Question

This is a really long sentence that I read in a book for my Spanish IV class. I can get a lot of it, but I can't seem to put it all together.

"El cuento de Cisneros no sólo hace un comentario sutil de lo que es crecer como latino en los Estados Unidos sino que también se centra en la posición que ocupan las mujeres tanto en la cultura hispana como en la cultura mayoritaria en los Estados Unidos."

Wow, what a sentence! I think it's something like this:

"Cisneros' story not only makes a subtle commentary of what it is to grow up as a Latino in the U.S., but also that centers on the position that occupies women as much in the Hispanic culture as en the majority culture of the United States."

Am I getting it right?
