What does magnate magnate mean?

I hear this word alot, I am not sure if I am spelling it correctly or not but it sounds like it or like it would be spelled maginate........it is used in alot of phrases i hear.

I think it means to imagine as well.

If it is an Spanish word, I guess it is imaginate (imagine) from the verb imaginar (to imagine).
