Yes i am learning both English and spanish actually. - --misterlonely--winterdays---, Apr 8, 2010
If you put this in your profile they may stop flagging your questions. This really is a great forum and we are glad to have you. Where are you from? - sunshinzmommie, Apr 8, 2010
your English is coming along nicely. In English we capitalize all languages :) - sunshinzmommie, Apr 8, 2010
Sunshinnz is right - I always look at someone's profile before correcting their English, because I wouldn't assume to correct another native speaker! - galsally, Apr 9, 2010

Winterdays,

I just want to take this opportunity to apologize to you. It wasn't until later today that it occurred to me that English was not your first language. Now it all makes sense.

Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way. Of course we will be more than happy to help you to learn both English and Spanish. Well, I promise to help you with English. I am not an expert in Spanish yet.

So welcome to the forum and I hope you can forgive me for being so strict about your English.

Nicole smile

Actually, to be fair, Winterdays, after reading your profile, it is unclear where you are from and what your native language is.

There are quite a few people on this site who are learning English as well as Spanish. To these members, we extend the courtesy of helping them with both languages.

So if you can fill out some more of the information on your profile, that might be helpful to us. smile

Winterday, the only reason someone loses reputation points is because they have been flagged. You are being flagged due to your refusal to comply with the site rules of using proper spelling, capitalization and grammar.

I know that it is impossible for any of us to be perfect. Actually, perfection is not required here. However, you have been told politely by myself and others that this is a learning site. In order to maintain the integrity of this site we must do our best to follow the above rules.

While we appreciate the fact that you have been asking questions in the forum, you have made no attempts in correcting your mistakes. Even if spelling is not your strong suit, I'm sure you know that every sentence begins with a capital letter.

I really do not enjoy being discouraging. In fact, I hope you are able to stay and enjoy the many benefits of this site. But please, abide by the spelling, grammar and capitalization rules.

Please tell others about this, too! It hurts my eyes to see such violations. - PuraVidaJim, Apr 8, 2010

Hi winterday, yes, people do lose votes here if they repeatedly do not abide by the rules.

I found it abhorrent that Nicole should get flagged for a nice and friendly post. There are some people full of hate on this site, I wonder why. gulp

Winterday was flagged by myself actually. I had spoken to him several times, on the board, in private, he was repeatedly, I mean repeatedly very nicely reminded that correct spelling is mandatory on this site, but he paid no heed.

I thought may be this would do the trick and it actually did. winkWinterday has posted a correct thread, which shows he actually knew the correct spelling.

I understand that the above post was flagged by one of our members. I can see nothing wrong with this post and I would like the member to send me a PM explaining the reasons as to why they flagged this post.

I agree. Winterdays has followed the rules of capitalization and punctuation on some posts and not others.

I should say to you that the most important points are in the learning you're getting, the most important points are already in your mind and no flag will make you lose them from there. wink

May I take this opportunity to apologise for offering suggestions in English, I only do so in the hope it may be of benefit to those learning English, but I may sound a little pedantic at times , I am only trying to help. Maybe the young person is like me and has only just started using a computer and is finding the going extremely tough, which quite often results in mistakes being made , in spelling , grammar, etc.
