How do you say "attic" in Spanish?

I need to type up a notice letting residents know we will be entering appartment to check if attic entry is in their apartment however i need to do it in spanish and do not know how to say attic in spanish

It all depends on which Spanish you speak; it could be, as they have said above, "el altillo", "el ático", but it could also be "el desván", "la buhardilla" or "el entretecho".

Again, it depends on where in Spain/SouthAmerica you are from.

altillo.

(Del dim. de alto1).

  1. m. Cerrillo o sitio algo elevado.

  2. m. Habitación situada en la parte más alta de la casa, y por lo general aislada.

  3. m. Entreplanta, piso elevado en el interior de otro y que se usa como dormitorio, despacho, almacén, etc.

  4. m. Armario que se construye rebajando el techo, o que está empotrado en lo alto del muro o pared.

  5. m. Col. y Perú. Parte más alta de un local destinado a almacén.

The word "attic" is el altillo en español. This is according to my college spanish book. Hope it helps!
