I'm watching Goodfellas in Spanish and they seem to be using the word pavo for dollar or buck. Is this for real?

I read that a pavo was equal to five pesetas under the pre-euro money system in Spain.

The 5-peseta coin was called a 'duro'. - samdie, Apr 7, 2010
Just looked at Quentin's link. I'd not heard 'pavo' before, only 'duro' but that's slang for you. - samdie, Apr 7, 2010
