I am trying to use phrases/idioms in my conversation and saw Heidita´s example es mucho suponer - wishful thinking.

Es mucho suponer que los hombres para hacer el trabajo lleguen hoy. It is wishful thinking that the men to do the work will arrive today.

I have taken a gamble and used subjunctive lleguen thinking to myself that wishful thinking (plus que) expresses a hope/desire or doubt, or should it be llegarán.

Thank you.

I'd say you're pretty much on the right track. You can simplify a bit thus:

"Es mucho suponer que los trabajadores llegarán hoy",or "Es mucho suponer que los hombres que harán el trabajo llegarán hoyY" - which is closer to what you wrote in English.

los trabajadores.....of course, thanks. No subjunctive needed then? - caza, Apr 5, 2010
