Spanish/English books?

Question

Does any one know of any easy read spanish books for beginers? I have been looking for some but most get very complicated.

Answer 1

O.K. - please don't laugh, but I like to read Harlequin romances, because they don't require any analyzing, they are easy to read, and I enjoy the happy endings. So, now I am reading them in Spanish.

Actually, I think that's a great idea. Easy reads that are still directed towards adult readers. And I bet you build some rather dramatic and "smooth" vocab too! :) - nuxita, Apr 4, 2010

I have found the Berlitz comics to be extremely easy to read and understand, mainly because most of it is in English and all the spanish give has translations listed on the margins.

You'll learn such great words and phrases as "todo el mundo" " machote" "me rindo."

I'm going to have to say that any book in the world that is solely Spanish is not going to be easy for a beginner, mainly because there are SO many words in the world even children's books will throw you for a loop because you're just not around Spanish enough to have an expansive enough vocabulary to understand it.

However you can have fun with it and try to figure it out based on clues, you should be able to in almost all instances tell what tense it is in and what the nouns verses verbs and pronouns are.

Yes i have noticed the difficulty of childrens books unless i already know them by heart it English. Thank you for the comic idea! - KMcNiel, Apr 5, 2010
