En mi opinion when you love Virgin Mary it´s different in the sense you can´t see her, touch her as you can people around you however you can experience her presence or help. Or your love for her can be expressed when you pray for her intercession or offer her your good deeds.

For example for a priest it's important to have a relationship to Mary so that he may keep pure as she was and is... She is a mother for all christians however I think she is even closer to priests.
