What is the difference between comprender and cazar? Both mean to understand.

To understand - comprender and cazar. What is the difference?

Cazar means "to hunt". It can be used in the sense of, "I couldn't catch a word," and thus sort of mean "understand". But that's an idiomatic use.

By the way, "entender" is the other comonly used word that means "to understand".

Although cazar might be able to be substituted for comprender on occasion, I have never heard it used that way.
