Hi Sharon,
Nicole is right. The only people that can add pictures to flashcards are "staff." We decided not to allow users to add pictures since it would be extremely difficult to manage them. You can write programs to detect inappropriate words and phrases, but what is to keep a person from posting an inappropriate picture where an elementary school student might see it.
Browse through the lists and if you don't find what you are looking for picture-wise, let me know and I can probably make it for you. We still have a few credits left to buy pictures, so we might as well use them. Just send me a PM!
Sharon, I am sending you a link to the only information I can find on adding pics to flashcards. Unfortunately, I don't think it is yet possible. The cards that you saw pictures on are probably flashcards created by one of the administrators like Paralee or Chris.
Anyway, here is the link: click here.
Ah, I was just making my first set of flashcards and wanted to add pictures instead of the English words, and I just found this post. I totally agree that it would be difficult to ensure people were not posting inappropriate pictures in their card sets (or abusing the system by placing advertising images, etc..).
If there were a moderation-review queue, and moderator assigned to this task, it would be possible to prevent problems. However, I suspect it could be a daunting task for the moderators.
