the best thing would be to make the bullfighting like in Portugal or the south of France. (without killing the bulls at the end of every bullfight.)

It is my understanding that (at least) in Portugal the bull is killed "off stage".

During the course of the bullfight, the the bull learns a great deal and, as a result, would be an extremely dangerous animal to have around. During the bull's early life great pains are taken to prevent the bull from having any experience with a human on foot. If some foolish person (probably a teenager) manages to sneak into the pasture and "work" the bull, the bull cannot be used in a bullfight because it has become too knowledgeable.

The bull has an overwhelming advantage in speed and strength in a corrida. It is only the knowledge and training of the bullfighter that makes it possible for him to dominate the bull (in most cases).

Hola samdie (in Portugal the bull is killed "off stage".) Usted tiene razón en lo que al toro no se le mata en el ruedo (ring), sino después. Dicen que sacrifican al toro (sin sufrimiento) al finalizar la corrida. - iker, Mar 30, 2010

I am not Spanish - but there is something very theatrical about bullfights.

It is "stage managed drama" and for many Spaniards part of their history and culture.

Personally I would never pay to see one. Nor would I pay to see "cockfights" or "dogfights" but that does not detract from the "theatrical" nature of a bullfight.

First of all, I have to admit that bullfighting is one of the best known tradition, although at the same time, one of the most polemical Spanish popular customs. The younger generation of spaniards believe bullfighting is cruel to animals. Many of them think that it's a barbaric and old-fashioned tradition. ( and should be banned.)

P.S. In my opinion, the best thing would be to make the bullfighting like in Portugal or the south of France. (without killing the bulls at the end of every bullfight.) wink

The spaniards not goes to see the bull die with cruelty . The spaniards goes to see how big are the bullfighter n*ts . If you're intelligent enough , you're going to understand. 150 pounds , against 1000 . Have you seen anytime a lidia bull horn ? I think no . Or are you thinking the 2 or 3 millions , a bullfighter can get in a year , are free ? Is their life who is in play . not yours . Show some respect with men who has got hardest b***s than you .
