How do you say aftermarket in spanish? For example, aftermarket car parts that you would buy from a store rather than having to go to the dealer?

Thanks!

I work doing Spanish translation for an English language automotive aftermarket magazine. Since the aftermarket industry includes nor just parts but also accessories and tools for the shop owner/manager/do-it-yourself, we have opted to translate it as "mercado automotriz de posventa" .

Me gusta mucho tu opción vicdark. Resulta más acertada que respuestos genéricos. - francobollo, Nov 26, 2012

Tricky.

Literally, the references I find for this word are "mercando extra-bursátil" or "mercado secundario". These, however, are investment terms that do not apply to the context you have given.

Since I have dabbled a bit in mechanics myself, the word I would use, and have seen suggested elsewhere would be: "repuestos genéricos"; specifically for "aftermarket car parts". This would differentiate such parts from "repuestos originales" or "repuestos de marca"; to mean original, brand-name parts.
