"Alguno/Alguna desea comprar una casa." - Somebody (or someone) wants to buy a house. When the word alguno or alguna is used in a sentence and it is not followed by a noun, what determines whether alguno or alguna should be the one used?

Thanks! I suppose I have to go with the majority. I was not getting any other respoinse for quite some time yesterday so I thought I already got the right answer that's why no one was answering anymore. Thanks again. - Rikko, Mar 30, 2010
BTW, does it mean therefore that "alguno(a)" requires a noun after it? - Rikko, Mar 30, 2010

I think that in general "alguno" is used, when the buyer could be either a male or a female and "alguna" if it is obvious that the buyer could only be female.

Ah, OK. I thought it would always be alguno if there is no noun after it. Muchas gracias! - Rikko, Mar 30, 2010
Sorry to "un-accept" your answer as I think for the sake of those who may have to refer to my question in the future that the most correct answer appears as the accepted one. But really appreciate your early response. Thanks again. - Rikko, Mar 30, 2010
